Adjustable Violin Shoulder Rest

Violinists and other string players often deal with shoulder and back pain because off-the-shelf supports are rarely matched to individual body geometry. This project was a custom shoulder-rest design focused on improving long-session comfort by tailoring fit instead of forcing the player to adapt to a fixed shape.

The design uses a two-part approach. First, it supports a custom shoulder contour insert so the contact surface can be matched to the user’s anatomy. Second, it adds multi-axis adjustability, allowing all key angles to be tuned for posture, instrument position, and playing style.
